Delays of up to a month at the Port of Vancouver, driven by heightened vehicle imports and a shortage of railcars, are prompting automakers that ship vehicles through the West Coast logistics hub to enact elaborate contingency plans to get vehicles to Canadian dealers. Polestar now expects 2023 global sales volumes of 60,000 to 70,000, compared with its earlier forecast of about 80,000 units. Quebec toughens ZEV sales mandate, frustrating automakers

Quebec Environment Minister Benoit Charette announced April 21 that the province was “accelerating” the yearly percentage of ZEVs that must be sold until the goal of 100 per cent is reached in 2035. The current Quebec sales mandates are already more aggressive than the proposed federal mandates and the new provincial targets widen that spread significantly.
