Pioneer is preparing to launch a new car stereo head unit in the United States, bringing a piece of 1980s nostalgia to the dashboard of vintage vehicles. The company will sell the SXT-C10PS model alongside a pair of box speakers, both part of its Heritage Collection. This equipment was previously available only in Europe, but the company confirmed that the US release will begin on November 2.

A Retro Design with Modern Features

The SXT-C10PS features a single-DIN design with a cassette tape door that actually hides USB ports. The speakers, model TS-X40SXT, are box-style units meant to complement the vintage aesthetic. According to the manufacturer, the system pairs a head unit and speakers to deliver rich, detailed audio while including conveniences like Bluetooth, HD Radio, and SiriusXM readiness.

These box speakers are a pretty bold old-school cool visual statement, but the head unit will simply blend nicely into almost any pre-Y2K car cockpit.

Technical Specifications

Technical details for the TS-X40SXT speakers include a 3-way bass-reflex design and a frequency response from 45 Hz to 36 kHz. The system handles 4 Ohm impedance and offers a continuous power output of 22 W per channel. A maximum peak power handling of 100 Watts rounds out the electrical ratings for the speakers.

Since the SXT-C10PS head unit has already been on sale officially in Europe for some time, there are already reviews floating around and people seem really happy with it. If any of you have installed or heard one yourself, tell us about it in the comments!
