The 2026 Cadillac Optiq Sport AWD is an all-electric vehicle that offers a range of new features, including a single motor variant and more horsepower across the board. The Optiq range for 2026 also includes the addition of a rear-wheel-drive model, offering an alternative to the all-wheel-drive configurations.
Changes for 2026
Most alterations are under the skin, and the casual eye might not discern many changes for this model year. However, the inclusion of a NACS charging port is big news, opening up thousands of charging points to vehicles properly configured. Simple adapters for hooking into a CCS-style public charger or at-home J1772 chargers were provided.
Other major changes to the Optiq range for 2026 include power increases, with all-wheel-drive trims now offering 440 horsepower, up from roughly 300 ponies. Performance and Charging
The all-wheel-drive trim of the Optiq has two electric motors and a battery with 85.0-kWh of usable electricity, producing 440 horsepower and 498 lb-ft of torque. In testing, the car reliably showed a total of 488 kilometres after a full charge, bang on the NRCan estimate for an Optiq fitted with all-wheel drive.
Charging at an Irving-branded DC fast charger replenished about 100 kilometres of range in 10 minutes and cost five bucks. Using an adapter for CCS to NACS was a breeze, and most charging for the week was performed at home using a Level 2 unit, filling the Optiq’s battery overnight.
The cost of charging the Optiq at home was roughly 19 cents per kWh for residential power in Nova Scotia, making a “fill-up” cost about 15 dollars for approximately 450 kilometres of range. This amount of money buys eight litres of fuel, meaning a person would need to get 1.8 L/100km in a gasoline-powered vehicle to equal the money paid for kilometres driven.
Features and Interior
The Optiq features a pressure-sensitive regenerative braking system, controlled by flappy paddles behind the steering wheel. There is also a measure of regenerative braking by way of one-pedal driving, the strength of which can be adjusted via a soft button on the infotainment’s permanent taskbar.

Super Cruise is standard across the board for the Cadillac Optiq, even on the least expensive trims, adding to the Caddy’s value proposition when placed next to its rivals.

The Optiq’s cargo area is generous, measuring 744 litres with the rear seats up and 1,603 L with them folded away. The car’s overall length is 4,820 millimetres, broadly akin to similarly priced all-electric crossovers like the Tesla Model Y and Lexus RZ.

A lack of rear wiper is vexing, doubly so since there is a handy sprayer present to clear off the rear-facing camera lens, a feature which PR types will probably say takes the place of a rear wiper since the rearview mirror can be viewed as a digital screen. They have a point. However, other brands have learned to include both.
