Hyundai has unveiled the Elantra N Monochrome, a more subdued version of its popular Elantra N sport compact. The new model, which features a classier design, will initially launch in Korea, Canada, and Australia, with plans to expand to other global markets.

The Monochrome edition removes the red exterior trim found on the standard Elantra N, replacing it with black-painted forged wheels and tweaked styling for the front and rear fascias, side skirts, and brake calipers. It’s available in two colors: Abyss Black Pearl and Performance Blue.

Inside, the Monochrome features new Alcantara trim and a steering wheel wrapped in the material, with black buttons that give it a more sophisticated look. The rear spoiler and mirror caps can be upgraded to carbon fiber with the optional “Upper Trim” package.

While the standard Elantra N has a bold, shouty aesthetic, the Monochrome is designed to appeal to a wider audience, particularly those who may find the original design too aggressive. This strategy is similar to Hyundai‘s introduction of a DCT option, which made the Elantra N more accessible to a broader range of buyers.

The Elantra N Monochrome arrives as the current generation of the Elantra nears its end, with the next-generation model already unveiled and prototypes of its N version spotted. The Monochrome will go on sale in Korea in late October, with pricing yet to be announced. For context, the standard Elantra N starts at $36,595 in the United States.

Hyundai has stated it plans to expand to other global markets, leaving the door open for a potential U.S. release.
