Genesis Magma GT concept was revealed last fall in Italy.

Genesis first revealed the Magma GT concept last fall, and now a YouTube video shows it ripping its way up a hillclimb course in Italy. The Magma GT packs what is believed to be a twin-turbocharged V-8 and is fitted with a luxurious, leather-lined cabin.

This is the best look yet at the Magma GT in action, and it is expected to enter production by 2030 and spawn a GT3 race car.

The Magma GT’s appearance is a significant development, and Genesis has provided a glimpse into its capabilities. Notably, the concept car’s ability to run and drive as well as it does suggests a high level of engineering and development, which further supports the likelihood of a production version.

When Genesis first revealed the Magma GT concept, the low-slung orange supercar crawled out on stage and revved its engine, immediately signaling the presence of a V-8 mounted in the middle of the car.

Since then, Genesis has revealed a lush cabin, shown the car in a fetching green hue, and revealed a Magma GT3 race car concept, indicating they are serious about the project. The various iterations of the Magma GT concept demonstrate Genesis’ commitment to exploring different design and performance possibilities.

Magma GT Hits Hillclimb Course

The footage comes from the Tutto Benne Hillclimb in Mottarone, Italy, and the Magma GT appears at the start of the course, giving a glimpse of its performance. The hillclimb course, with its challenging terrain and scenic backdrop, provides an ideal setting for showcasing the Magma GT’s capabilities.

While Genesis hasn’t revealed many technical details about the Magma GT, the engine is believed to be twin-turbocharged and possibly producing as much as 800 horsepower, which would make it a formidable competitor.

Genesis hasn’t confirmed that the Magma GT is entering production, but it is almost certain that a production car will arrive by 2030, as they have a history of following through on their concepts. This pattern of concept-to-production is a sign of Genesis’ approach to car design and development.

They have said in the past that they don’t just build show cars for the sake of it, and it’s uncommon to see automakers build a concept car that runs and drives as well as the Magma GT does, indicating a production intent. The fact that the Magma GT is a fully functional concept car suggests that Genesis is invested in bringing this vehicle to market.

Aside from the Magma GT, the rest of the video is also worth checking out, with appearances from other cars such as the X Skorpio concept, a wild off-roader that looks perfectly suited for the Dakar Rally.

Other cars that made an appearance include a BMW M3 Touring that was turned into a race car, the new Bertone Runabout, a screaming Ferrari Monza SP2 that drifts its way up the course, a Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss, and a Bugatti Divo, showcasing the diversity of vehicles at the event. The presence of these cars highlights the unique nature of the hillclimb event, which brings together a wide range of automotive enthusiasts and showcases various high-performance vehicles.

There’s even a wacky Piaggio Ape powered by a motorcycle engine and dressed up in a Martini livery, adding to the uniqueness of the event. The inclusion of this unusual vehicle demonstrates the creativity and playfulness that can be found in the world of automotive enthusiasts.
